Work Package 1 (Establishment, digitization, and management)
"The "Engonopoulos Archive" project (Work Package 1) has made significant progress, exceeding the initial forecasts. The preparation, transfer of the archive to the Library of the Athens School of Fine Arts and digitization were completed. Minor bureaucratic hurdles were overcome and ethical concerns were carefully addressed. The project remains on schedule to achieve all goals and deliverables by its completion. A comprehensive content analysis was carried out and a new classification system was implemented. The materials were successfully transferred to the Library of the Athens School of Fine Arts, with a video recording of the process. The initial index included 237 works, classified as follows: 57 from the original archive, 31 taken as photocopies by Ms. Engonopoulou, and 119 previously unpublished works/drawings owned by Ms. Engonopoulou. A preliminary publication plan is being prepared, summarizing the methodology, the findings of the project (including 36 previously unrecorded reports) and the cataloguing. 120 catalogues have been edited and all the photographs have been collected. The archive is housed in the Library of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) in order to ensure the effective organization, access and preservation of digitized materials. Furniture and equipment have been installed to facilitate optimal file management, while the migration and installation of the file has been completed. Digitalization has reached full completion. The contributions from Panteion University, the Athens School of Fine Arts, and the University of West Attica are noted. Priority was given to basic materials: catalogues, photographs and exhibition views. The project deliverables include: a complete index of the archive, digital copies of the scanned material (complete) and a detailed report on the preparation, transfer and digitization (in attached photographic/videographic files, not included in this report). The next steps include starting planning for the dissemination conference (Spring 2025). Work Package 1 demonstrates significant progress. A final report with comprehensive quantitative data will be submitted after the completion of digitalisation. The provided index highlights the richness and organization of the archive.
Through the actions of Work Package 1, the foundations were laid for the implementation of the next phases of the project, ensuring the accessibility and utilization of the archive of Nikos Engonopoulos by the scientific community and the wider public.
